Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has announced his support for a new Bill on the European Union In-Out referendum.
The Bill, being proposed by Conservative MP James Wharton, would see the Government’s commitment to an In-Out referendum - by the end of 2017 - written into law.
It has support from members across the Parliamentary Party, including Ministers, backbenchers and Conservatives of all views.
Labour and the Liberal Democrats, however, have already announced that they will be voting against the Bill.
Speaking of the Bill, Gavin said: “This Bill is a very welcome development that I am proud to support. It is my belief that this Bill is the best opportunity for the people of Britain to have their say in Britain’s membership of the European Union.
“It is obviously deeply disappointing for me that both the Liberal Democrats and Labour are not going to be supporting the Bill, which proves that, if you want a say on the European Union, the only way to achieve this is by voting Conservative.”
