Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, met with students from St Bartholomew’s School, Lower Penn, when they made a recent visit to Westminster.
Gavin welcomed the group of students to Westminster who were visiting because of their involvement in the Student Council at the Lower Penn school. The students visited Parliament’s newly built Education Centre which teaches students about the history of the Palace of Westminster before showing them around the House of Commons and House of Lords.
Following their tour, Gavin met the pupils in Westminster Hall and answered questions ranging from what life was like working as an MP and about the political system.
Commenting on the visit, Gavin stated “It was a pleasure to meet with students from St Bartholomew’s after their tour of the Palace last week. All the children have been involved in some way in the Student Council at school and it was great to be able to show them some of Parliament.
“I was so impressed with the pupil’s knowledge of both history and politics after their experience in Parliament’s Education Centre. They were all extremely engaged asked numerous intelligent questions about how Parliament worked, as well as about the Palace of Westminster itself.
“I would thoroughly recommend the Education Centre to any school group seeking to visit Westminster.”
