Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed the news that Perton and Pattingham are to receive an additional Police Community Support Officer (PCSO).
Gavin wrote to the South Staffordshire Local Policing Team after a number of local residents raised concerns about the ‘poor’ level of police service in the Perton area.
In his response, local Inspector Geoff Knight informed Gavin that Perton and Pattingham would shortly be allocated another PCSO from the organisation’s new recruits.
Together, Perton and Pattingham currently have one part-time Police Constable and one PCSO. In addition, there is a Police Constable based at Codsall, who also covers the Perton area, and a 24 hour response from the local policing shifts.
Gavin said: “I am delighted that Perton and Pattingham will be receiving another PCSO. The villages continue to be two of the safest places to live in the country, but that does not mean we can afford to lower our vigilance.
“A strong police presence is a tried and tested method of deterring crime and also plays an important role in ensuring that local residents feel secure in their own neighbourhood.”
