Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed the announcement of new funding to help the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust be ready for any additional demand on services that might occur, this winter.
Today the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, announced that £3,747 will be given to the A&E department at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust to ensure it can provide a good service to everyone that needs it this Christmas.
This comes in addition to a long term plan by the Health Secretary to deal with the pressures on A&E such as having a named GP accountable for care, investment in new technology to ensure patient records are shared between hospitals and family doctors and more money for social care.
Commenting, Gavin said: “For the hardworking NHS staff that serve my constituents this extra money will be a welcome boost, this winter, when A&E departments come under most pressure.
“Once again we are seeing a positive outcome for hardworking people from our decision to increase NHS spending, spending opposed by the Labour party.”
