Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is welcoming renewed discussions about lifting a ban on turning left from Wrottesley Park Road, Perton, onto Pattingham Road.
After calling on the Divisional Highways Agency after a lengthy campaign to lift the ban, Staffordshire County Council recently confirmed that it would look at lifting the restriction at the junction, which is being considered as part of a wider traffic management review.
In addition to a number of complaints from constituents, the results of a recent resident survey found that, of those that responded, over 84 percent of Perton residents have called for a lifting of the ban on turning left from Wrottesley Park Road onto Pattingham Road.
Gavin has previously successfully campaigned, to secure a temporary lift of the ban during the Nancherrow Tough Guy event.
Gavin said: “These figures are clear and show that the overwhelming weight of public opinion is behind lifting this ridiculous ban. Over 84% of Perton residents that responded to my survey said that they would like to see the ban removed and I believe the Council should take this into account.
“It is absurd that local residents travelling from Perton to Wolverhampton should have to lengthen their journeys unnecessarily. I sincerely hope that the Council makes the right decision and permanently lifts this ridiculous restriction.”
