Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has welcomed falling crime figures from the Crime Survey for England and Wales.
The figures show how crime has fallen by 32 per cent since 2010, to its lowest ever level, according to the independent Crime Survey for England and Wales.
Commenting on the new figures Gavin said: “These figures show the strength of this Government’s record in bringing crime down to its lowest ever level.
“In Staffordshire crime recorded by the police has fallen by 11%. This is good news for Staffordshire making our community a safer place to live, work and raise a family.”
“We have to continue to build on this success by electing a PCC that will work with the Government to deliver more visible policing and better use of police resources.
Gavin is supporting Matthew Ellis in his re-election campaign for Police and Crime Commissioner, with elections taking place on Thursday 5th May. Since 2012, Matthew has worked with the community and established himself as a prominent national voice on policing and criminal justice, particularly promoting the importance of Neighbourhood Policing.
Commenting on Matthew’s role as Staffordshire PCC Gavin said: “Matthew has been an excellent Police and Crime Commissioner for Staffordshire since his election back in November 2012 and I would encourage residents right across Staffordshire to support him on 5th May.”
