Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Wombourne Library to talk to jobseekers and exhibitors at the jobs fair being held there last week.
The event, which aimed to bring together employers, partners and jobseekers saw employers and providers attend with vacancies in a range of different sectors. The event was supported by South Staffordshire District Council and South Staffordshire Housing Association as well as the numerous job clubs that operate across the area.
Training providers were also available to talk about programmes and placements that can help people move closer to employment. Businesses of all sizes attended the event with companies including Jaguar Land Rover and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were on hand to speak to prospective employees about the opportunities on offer.
On attending the event Gavin said: “The job fair was a great chance for jobseekers to talk to a number of employers, apply for vacancies and find out more about opportunities in the future. It was great to see employers such as JLR show their support at the event. There was a whole range of training services and opportunities available.
“Job fairs such as these show residents across South Staffordshire that there are great opportunities for jobs and career development locally. I’d like to thank South Staffordshire District Council and South Staffordshire Housing Association for their support and of course the work clubs that operate across South Staffordshire who support those that are looking for work.”
