Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited UK Safety Store last week to see the manufacture of a new sign raising awareness of dog fouling in Coven after pupils from the village ran a competition to design a poster.
Gavin was initially contacted by Coven resident Darren Taylor who asked for his support on the issue and to work with St Paul’s School to raise awareness of dog fouling, especially on the footpaths surrounding the area, with the winner, Lucy Whatmore a year 4 pupil, having her sign made by Mr Taylor’s Wolverhampton based company.
Gavin was given a tour of the facility by the Managing Director Mr Taylor and learned more about the work the company does nationally including working for companies such as Asda as well as smaller local businesses. The company have recently made investment in modern high tech printing equipment which was demonstrated on the tour.
After visiting the site Gavin commented: “I had such an interesting time visiting the UK Safety Store Factory in Wolverhampton and getting a better understanding of how the printing process works. I was pleased to see the factory has invested in new high tech printing equipment which can only enhance their already high quality products.
“It was great to see the sign being made after seeing all the hard work that pupils from St Paul’s put into the competition. I am grateful to Darren for coming up with this fantastic idea and I hope that the sign helps a significant decrease in dog fouling in the area.”
