Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, met with volunteers from the organisation
Staffordshire's Lowland Search & Rescue Team work in partnership with Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue and Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit. They are Staffordshire's only approved volunteer lowland search & rescue team; with specialist training in locating and rescuing missing people in urban and rural lowland areas.
Staffordshire Lowland Search & Rescue Team (SSART) is a highly skilled team of dedicated volunteers who give up a lot of their own valuable time to provide a service to the emergency services in the upmost professional manner.
Although based primarily in Staffordshire, SSART often venture outside of the county to assist neighbouring Lowland Rescue teams on callouts. They provide fully equipped 4x4 vehicles to assist with evacuation, recovery & logistics during adverse weather wherever we may be required.
The team is funded entirely through donations from the public and local businesses, so they are often are kept busy raising essential funds throughout the year to keeping the team operational whilst performing their vital work.
Gavin visited the organisation based at MOD Stafford and met with some of the hardworking volunteers that dedicate their time to saving lives.
Commenting, Gavin said: "It was fantastic meeting with volunteers from Search & Rescue who do a wonderful job here in Staffordshire and far beyond. This great work is done all by volunteers and makes a real difference to so many peoples lives."
