Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited vending machine refurbishment specialists, Excalibur, to hear about their business and learn about their remanufacturing techniques.
Gavin spoke to employees at the company, learning about the remanufacturing of a machine and asked about the intense process that a machine will go through to be made fit for use once again.
Excalibur Manufacturing Solutions was started in 2003 by owner and managing director Richard Gilbert. The SME has adopted a process of remanufacturing which involves as little incursion on the environment as possible and seeks to demonstrate as much sustainability as much as they can.
Gavin inspected new ultrasonic cleaning equipment involved in refurb that the business invested in as a result of support from the Black Country Gold and heard about plans to grow the business further with support from Regional Growth Fund and the Green Shoots Plus Fund, which has provided funding for businesses across the West Midlands, to create 400 jobs with a £4.3 million fund, which is backed by the Express & Star.
Managing Director Richard, a constituent of Gavin’s, commented: “It was a great perk for employees to hear from Gavin that he couldn’t understand why anyone would need new equipment, given the outstanding quality of Excalibur’s refurb and their value for money.”
Speaking after his visit Gavin said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Excalibur. The process that a machine would go through is extremely precise and it’s incredible to see what the company can do to take one machine and essentially create a whole new one. I was especially interested to learn about the new equipment that the company gained with backing from Black Country Gold and the possibilities drawing on the Regional Growth Fund and the Green Shoots Plus Fund, and I look forward to hearing more about them in the future.”
