Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, met representatives from Forest of Mercia to hear about their new project at Hilton Green at their Spring Fair.
Gavin met with Directors Rebecca Banks, David Knowles and Gareth Pugh who have taken on the flagship site to develop it into an environmental education facility, purpose built to meet the requirements and wishes of local people.
Hilton Green is the transformation of a decommissioned sewage works into an environmental education facility, a place where people of all ages and backgrounds are given the opportunity to learn, enjoy and be inspired through the natural environment. Included on the site’s redesign will be hidden outdoor classrooms, allotments, woodlands, natural play areas and orchards, all to use as a backdrop and stimulus for activity for all ages including those with disabilities.
The Spring Fair hosted a variety of stalls and activities including an apple grafting workshop, hypnotherapy workshop and a talk with the South Staffordshire District Beekeepers Association.
After attending the Spring Fair Gavin commented: “It was a real pleasure to meet Rebecca, David and Gareth and hear about their exciting plans for the Hilton Green site. These three individuals are committed to making Hilton Green a unique, community focused facility for the people of South Staffordshire and I am sure that the site will become an inspiring place for visitors of all ages when it is completed.”
