Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has urged Arriva to look at installing a bus stop in Wedges Mills after two companies have ceased to stop there.
Gavin has asked the Chief Executive of Arrive to look at installing a bus stop in Wedges Mills, near to the medical centre, after receiving a number of concerns for elderly patients who currently have to pay for a taxi to get to and from medical appointments.
The village of Wedges Mills was previously served by three services by two different companies which included stops at the doctor’s surgery, before its relocation from the building in Bideford Way, to its current location at Alderwood Medical Centre on Longford Road. Both companies however now no longer stop in Wedges Mills.
Commenting on this Gavin said: “I have asked the Chief Executive of Arriva to review the bus route and to see if it would be possible to look at arranging for this bus to stop at Wedges Mills. This would benefit many residents in the area, especially those who are currently paying a lot of money in taxi fares to get to their medical appointments. Residents in Wedges Mills rely on public transport so I hope that the company is able to find a solution soon.”
