Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, took part in a broad range of activities at the Kinver Country Fayre on Sunday.
As part of his duties, Gavin judged the children’s fancy dress contest and awarded the trophy for the classic car competition.
A long term classic cars enthusiast, he was given the opportunity to ride in a 1950s Triumph as part of the procession through Kinver.
Gavin also had his own stand at the carnival, where he met with constituents and held an impromptu surgery at which they could raise any potential concerns.
In addition to greeting local residents, Gavin welcomed visitors from Park Ridge in the US, a city that is twinned with Kinver.
A Declaration of Friendship was jointly proclaimed by the two communities, under the auspices of Sister Cities International, in 1992.
Speaking of the day, Gavin said: “I had a wonderful time at the Kinver Country Fayre, judging the fancy dress contest and awarding the prize for the best classic car. I am a huge fan of classic cars, so I particularly enjoyed viewing the impressive display and having the opportunity to ride in a classic Triumph.
“One of the best things about carnivals, such as the Kinver Country Fayre, is being able to meet with constituents and discuss any issues that they might have. It is great to be able to chat in a less formal environment and I was delighted to be able to talk to a large number of visitors on the day.”
The historic village of Kinver has held the annual country fayre for over three decades.
The event, which is traditionally held on a Sunday in June, always sees thousands of visitors joining with the community to share a day of traditional country, family entertainment, quality crafts, music and food and drink.
