Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Ounsdale High School in Wombourne, to reveal the winner of his Parliamentary Christmas card competition.
The winner of this year’s competition was Caitlin Oakley, a pupil in year 9. Caitlin’s design included a snowman and child with the Wombourne maypole in the background. Gavin revealed the name of the winner on his visit to the school and presented her with a prize.
The competition was a part of an activity set for Enrichment Week which took place in July 2014. The annual week long project sees normal school lessons are suspended, as pupils take part in a week long project which is specifically designed to inspire students, raising aspirations, resilience and confidence.
Gavin said: “There was a very high standard of designs from the children at Ounsdale High School and I would like to congratulate Caitlin for her fantastic winning card. It is really wonderful to see all the hard work that the children have put into this competition. All the cards that we received were truly excellent and it was incredibly difficult to pick just one winner.”
