Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, learned about the South Staffs Cycling Scheme whilst at the Brewood Cycle Challenge on Saturday.
The club has a number of rides available across South Staffordshire. The three locations, Penkridge Rambles, Perton Pedallers and Wombourne Fun Rides, vary in degrees of difficulty and in terrain.
The South Staffordshire Cycling Scheme was formed earlier this year by Neil Postins and April Lewis who decided to form the club after wanting to encourage more people to get involved in cycling. The Scheme aims to promote cycling as a fun and safe way to stay active and healthy. They are also hoping that it will encourage people to commute to work and help the environment. The scheme is free of charge thanks to funding from The South Staffordshire Strategic Partnership which is an umbrella partnership that brings together key local agencies from the public, private, voluntary and community sectors.
Gavin said: “This is a brilliant scheme which Neil and April have started. We are so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful countryside in South Staffordshire and I think that it is right that we take advantage of it through this cycle scheme. I hope many constituents will be encouraged to join in this fantastic opportunity to explore more countryside and keep fit.”
