Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, officially opened this year’s Pattingham Summer Fete.
The event, which is St. Chad’s Church’s biggest annual fundraiser, took place on Saturday 5th July on Pattingham Playing Fields.
Gavin had a stall on the day, where residents were able to come and discuss any issues that they needed help with.
He also announced the winner of the treasure hunt, drew the raffle and helped out on the bottle stand, which raised a total of £400 on the day.
Gavin said: “It was a truly wonderful day and all the visitors seemed to be greatly enjoying the broad variety of entertainment on offer.
“It is always great to see the community rally around events such as this. The church plays an incredibly important role in the local area and relies upon the support of residents to survive. The money raised from this fete will be going towards the continued maintenance of the church and to ongoing renovations to the building.”
Other attractions at this year’s fete included plant stalls, raffles, a bouncy castle, face painting, a Salvation Army brass band, dog show, and a child and parent wheelbarrow race (big highlight).
Nearly £4,400 was raised, in total, on the day. However, the amount is only a small proportion of the total funds that have to be found annually by the church for it to remain open.
