Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, will officially open the Essington Fun Fest at the Essington Rugby Club, this Saturday 12th July.
The opening ceremony is set to take place at 10.30am and will be followed by a string of races, a craft and cake competition and a raffle draw.
Additional attractions at this year’s event include Owls on the Prowl, local live bands, face painting, a tombola, Splat the Rat, craft stalls and a barbecue.
All proceeds from the 2014 Fun Fest will be going towards Myeloma UK and Heartlands Hospital.
Gavin said: “I am really looking forward to attending the Essington Fun Fest this year, and was greatly honoured to be asked to officially open the event.
The Essington Fun Fest promises to be a wonderful day, with a wide range of activities on offer, and I hope we will be able to raise plenty of money for Myeloma UK, Heartlands Hospital and other local charities.”
Myeloma UK, a charity dealing exclusively with myeloma, relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising activities. The money raised allows the charity to further their research continue to support myeloma patients and their families!
Heartlands Hospital plans to use the money raised through Fun Fest to purchase a second early pregnancy scanner for their miscarriage support centre. The new machine worth £60,000 would allow for the centre to continue to support those affected by miscarriages.
