Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, met with representatives from Natural England in Kinver to discuss conservation of the area.
Gavin discussed the ecology of Kinver Edge with Natural England who is working to improve lowland heath, encouraging a greater range of wildlife, reptiles, birds, mammals and insects in the area.
Also discussed was the expansion of Kinver Edge by the National Trust, with the organisation taking on nearby land from Worcestershire County Council, making it a more substantial area. Gavin and representatives walked around the site discussing the changes that are in the process of being achieved, giving the community a better understanding and encouraging the stewardship of wildlife.
After visiting the area Gavin said: “I’m delighted that Natural England has been able to work with the National Trust making a really positive impact on the wildlife in the natural area around Kinver Edge. It’s so important that we do everything we can to encourage wildlife to thrive in the areas around our villages. I am looking forward to hearing more about the expansion of Kinver Edge and the new species of wildlife that make it their home.”
