Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited HomeServe last week to hear more about the home repairs and insurance group.
HomeServe provides boiler and heating repairs, plumbing repairs and appliance repairs. The company also offers home emergency insurance extending to plumbing and drainage cover, boiler and heating insurance and landlords' insurance policies.
The company currently employs 1,200 people, many of which are from the South Staffordshire area and recently announced an additional 100 jobs will be created at their Walsall headquarters.
During his visit Gavin toured the facility meeting members of staff and heard about their plans for international expansion. He also took part in their internal broadcast programme Big Red Sofa, where he answered questions from staff members on a range of topics including the upcoming referendum on the European Union and regulatory challenges facing businesses today.
The company has recently seen their UK membership customer service rise to around 2.2 million.
After his visit Gavin commented: “I had a fantastic time at HomeServe. The company is brilliant example of successful local business creating jobs and expanding their services across the continent.
“I really enjoyed taking part in the Big Red Sofa broadcast and taking questions from HomeServe employees. I think it is a wonderful initiative, bringing employees together and discussing a wide range of topical issues. I look forward to hearing more about the success of the company and wish them look in their international expansion plans.”
