Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, joined with the Albrighton and District Rotary Club to mark National Stroke Awareness Day on Friday 17th June.
Gavin participated in National Stroke Awareness Day with the Albrighton and District Rotary Club at Pattingham Village Hall last Friday. The event was held to raise awareness of the ways in which we can reduce the risk of stroke and improve rates of stroke survival. Members of the club checked visitors’ blood pressure and Body Mass Index, offered tests for diabetes and gave advice on healthy living.
National Stroke Awareness Day promotes awareness of high rates of stroke, which is now the UK's third biggest killer, seeks to educate and inform the general public about symptoms and risk factors, and aims to ensure better care and support for stroke survivors.
Gavin commented: “It was a real privilege to be a part of National Stroke Awareness Day and I would like to congratulate the Albrighton and District Rotary Club for their fantastic work in organising such a successful and informative event. Stroke can have such a devastating impact on victims and their families and I think it is so important that we do all we can to increase awareness of stroke prevention.”
