Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited Leafields Farm, in Brewood, over the weekend.
Gavin was taken on a tour of the dairy farm by its owners, father and son team Ian and Andrew Porteous.
During his visit, he had the opportunity to discover more about how the dairy industry operates and what further action the Government can take to support this important sector.
He also had the chance to get up close to some of the many cows and calves that populate the successful local farm.
Gavin said: “I had a wonderful visit to Leafields Farm. I particularly enjoyed my tour of the farm and being able to see all of the cows and calves on site.
“Farming continues to be an incredibly important sector for the UK and contributes significantly to our national economy, and the preservation of our environment. We need to do everything that we can to support our farmers and protect our agricultural industry.”
Dairy farming is currently the single largest agricultural sector in the UK, accounting for around 17 percent of UK agricultural production by value.
