Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, visited the Shareshill branch of the Women’s Institute recently to hear about their recent activities.
Gavin spoke to the group about his role as a Member of Parliament as well as chatting about his experience as the Parliamentary Private Secretary to David Cameron and now Chief Whip to the Prime Minister.
During his visit Gavin was shown the display of bra-skets, an innovative way of displaying flowers as part of a nation-wide competition to promote recycling, whose winners will be announced at the end of September. The WI counts almost 220,000 members across 6,300 branches across the United Kingdom.
Commenting on his visit to the branch Gavin said: “I had such an enjoyable time speaking to members of the Shareshill WI last night and seeing their entries for the ‘Hanging bra-sket competition’. This is just another brilliant example of the resourcefulness and creativity of the members of this fantastic organisation.
“I would like to wish all those taking part in the competition the very best of luck in the latter stages of the competition and I look forward to hearing the results in September.”
