Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has nominated The King’s Repose in Featherstone to take part in the Tiffin Cup competition to find the best South Asian Restaurant in the country.
The aim of the competition, which is in its 11th year, is not to only to applaud the quality of South Asian food in Britain but also to raise money for charity, with this year’s funds going to ‘World Vision’ and ‘Water Aid’.
After being nominated by MPs, the restaurant will then wait to see if they are successful in being selected as the regional finalist, before a Grand Final which will be held in the House of Commons on Tuesday 12th July.
Commenting on his nomination, restaurant owner Monsur Ahmed said: “This is brilliant news, I am surprised and very happy to have been selected. I really appreciate everything my local MP Gavin Williamson has done to help promote the business.”
After nominating the restaurant Gavin commented: “I am delighted that the nomination for The King's Repose in Featherstone has been accepted and that they will take part in this year’s Tiffin Cup. It is such an honour for them to take part in such a prestigious competition and I look forward to watching them progress and welcoming them to the House of Commons should they win their regional heat. I am sure everyone in South Staffordshire will wish them well to becoming Tiffin Cup Champions.”
