Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is holding a campaign morning to distribute campaign material to volunteers as part of his campaign to save the greenbelt land off Landywood Lane.
Gavin will be distributing a petition to residents of Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay against the proposals which seek to build 136 houses on land off Landywood Lane. Similar proposals were rejected in 2013 on the same plot of land.
The results of the petition will be sent to the Council and also presented in the House of Commons
The session will be held at Landywood Primary School on Saturday 17th October from 10:30 am where volunteers will organise and distribute the petitions to each household across Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay.
Commenting on the Landywood proposals Gavin commented: βI am deeply disappointed and concerned that these rehashed proposals have been resubmitted. Residents have rejected them once and I intend to fight as hard as I did in 2013 to ensure that they are rejected once more. This development is not wanted or needed by residents and I am determined that the voices of the people of Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay will be heard once again.β
βIt was only with the invaluable help of volunteers that these proposals were rejected last time and I would ask if residents could spare a couple of house on Saturday 17th of October Their help at Landywood Primary School would be greatly appreciated, so we can campaign as hard as we did in 2013 to protect our greenbelt and safeguard the identity of our villages.β
