Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, is calling for a pedestrian crossing to be built on a busy Codsall junction.
Constituents have contacted Gavin raising safety concerns at the lack of a safe pedestrian crossing on Histons Hill Road. A number of children cross the road to access nearby schools and currently there is no other option than crossing the road at the busy junction.
Gavin has contacted South Staffordshire Council to ask them to review the case and see whether a crossing on the road would be feasible.
Commenting on this Gavin said: “This is an extremely busy road which numerous people, including many children, use to get to the nearby schools.
“I often see first-hand the number of children and vehicles around the busy school closing time and I believe that there is a clear need in my view for a pedestrian crossing. This would cause minimal inconvenience to motorists whilst greatly enhancing safety for pedestrians.
“We cannot put a price on our children’s safety and I would strongly urge the Council to review this case so all pedestrians can be safe when crossing this busy road.”
