Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, has called for a resolution to the problem of bus shelters on the wrong side of the road on Perton Parkway bus route.
Gavin has been contacted by local residents who are frustrated that the bus shelters still haven’t been transferred to the side of the road, after changes were made to the direction of the bus route.
National Express introduced changes to the bus routes that serve Bilbrook, Codsall and Perton meaning that residents, notably elderly residents, were no longer close to the bus routes that they depended on. In Perton the route changed direction, which meant that the bus shelters, which previously were on the correct side of the road, were made completely redundant
He has previously met with Parish Councillors and officials from National Express and Arriva - who manage the service - and the West Midland Transport Service, in a bid to resolve the issue.
Gavin said: “I cannot believe that this ludicrous situation continues. Having the shelters on the wrong side of the road not only renders their purpose redundant, but is a complete waste of money. I’m calling for the company to re-examine this situation so that the bus shelters can be used once again so that they can better serve residents living in this area. I hope that this issue can be resolved soon.”
