Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, held a campaign evening in Essington for campaigners against the building of the DX Freight Super Hub off Hobnock Road last week.
The meeting, which was held at St John’s Primary School, on Wednesday evening, saw over 80 volunteers organise the referendum and survey forms that will be then distributed to households across Essington.
Just over 2,000 pieces of campaign literature were organised by the team of volunteers. The combined referendum and survey will highlight concerns of Essington residents, questioning the building of the DX Super Hub, the results of which will be presented to South Staffordshire District Council.
Commenting on the meeting Gavin said: “I would like to thank all those who took the time to come to the campaign evening last week to help organise the survey and referendum forms that will be sent out across Essington.
“These proposals could cause irrevocable damage to the village of Essington and I am determined to fight these proposals and ensure that the District Council hears the voice of Essington residents heard loud and clear.
“I would encourage all residents to fill in the referendum and survey form and return it via the freepost envelope. It is important that we have as many responses as possible to show the Council that this development is not wanted by all who live in Essington.”
