Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended the official unveiling of the refurbished Pavilion at the Enville Athletic Social Club, over the weekend.
The opening ceremony took place during the tea interval of the cricket match between Enville and Stourport.
In the evening, the Club hosted a Summer Ball in order to celebrate the occasion. Tickets for the event cost £25 and included live music, disco and food.
Speaking of the opening ceremony, Gavin said: “I was extremely impressed with the results of the recent re-furbishment.
“This has been an extremely welcome investment and I am delighted that the club finally has the facilities to support it, moving forward. The pavilion is a very important facility for Enville and I have no doubt that this enhancement will help attract even more people from the community to participate in the broad range of social and sport activities on offer.”
Enville Athletic Social Club received £50,000 of National Lottery funding, earlier this year, to remove existing changing rooms, showers, toilets, kitchen and bar store and replace them with brick facilities.
The project has provided larger changing rooms and improved showers, toilets and kitchen facilities. The improved insulation of the new building has also reduced heating costs and the new facilities have been enhanced for disabled people.
In addition to the funding received from Sport England, the Club received support from The Bissill Charitable Trust through Enville Estates, Cory Environmental Trust, Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust and Staffordshire Environmental Fund via the Landfill Communities Fund. Without the considerable contributions from these organisations, the project would not have been possible.
