Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, attended the opening of the Brewood Cycle Challenge over the weekend.
The event was organised by the Brewood Scouts Fundraisers, who are seeking to raise £250,000 for a new Scout Hut.
There were over 200 participants in the race, which featured two 50km and 100km fully-signposted routes for the cyclists to choose from.
The event started at St Dominic’s High School, in Brewood, on Saturday. Participants cycled across Staffordshire, through Wheaton Aston, Acton Trussell and Penkridge, before returning to Brewood.
On the event, Gavin said: “It was fantastic to see such a high turn-out for this year’s Cycle Challenge, which I believe was the biggest to date.
“We were extremely luck with the weather and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves enormously. I hope that the event succeeded in raising a lot of money for the Brewood Scouts, which is a truly worthy local organisation that plays an incredibly important role in the local community."
