Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, will attend the Perton Springwatch Festival on Saturday 12th April.
The free annual event will be the seventh edition of the Festival. It is hosted each year by Wild About Perton and the Perton Library, and is supported by various wildlife and environmental organisations.
Students from Perton Middle School and Perton First School will be helping to prepare this year’s event.
Gavin said: “Having visited the Perton Springwatch Festival last year, I am very excited to be attending again in just a few weeks. The Festival is a wonderful educational opportunity for the people of South Staffordshire, young and old, to learn more about wildlife and the environment in the area.”
The event is expected to be hugely popular, with over 1500 people attending in past years. The Festival provides fun for all ages and is an excellent opportunity for families to interact with fellow members of the community.
The 2014 Festival will feature a wider variety of wildlife than ever. Visitors will have the chance to meet animals such as the Daubenton bat, Celly the hedgehog, ferrets, lambs, hens, goats, greyhounds, and Perton’s very own aquatic mini-beasts.
Additionally, donkey rides will be offered to the younger family members, a group of owls and raptors will be featured in a flying display and families will have the opportunity to take a wildlife walk.
