Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, will be attending the Essington Coffee Morning on Saturday 10th May.
The community coffee morning, which is taking place at St. John’s Church on Wolverhampton Road, is being held in support of Christian Aid Week.
Christian Aid is a Christian organisation that is working towards a world that is free from poverty.
Its primary aims include: ‘exposing the scandal of poverty, helping in practical ways to root it out from the world and challenging/changing structures and systems that favour the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalised.’
Christian Aid Week is taking place from the 11th to the 17th of May.
Last year, an incredible 20,000 churches across the country helped raised a staggering £12m over the week long period.
Gavin said: “I am glad to be able to attend this coffee morning and do my bit to support this incredibly important cause.
“There are stills tens of millions of people around the world who are living in poverty, in horrendous circumstances. I cannot praise enough the work that Christian Aid is doing to try and bring an end to poverty, and applaud the huge amount that the charity has already done to help those in need.”
