Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, engaged in a spot of Irish dancing at the Codsall Community Arts Festival, on Friday.
Gavin visited Codsall High School to watch the Reel Note Band, which was performing music, song and dance from Ireland.
He unexpectedly formed part of the evening’s entertainment when he was invited to join in a traditional Irish jig.
On the event, Gavin said: “I greatly enjoyed my first attempt at Irish dancing, though I definitely need some more practice. My attempt at Irish dancing was rather akin to a sketch from Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks.
“I was also extremely impressed by the talent displayed by the Reel Note Band, which acts as a prime example of the high quality of performers that the Codsall Community Arts Festival attracts.”
The Reel Note Band is made up of English musicians, of Irish heritage, with an established reputation for passion, pace and precision on the tough Irish set-dancing circuit.
The group specialises in traditional melody instruments, backed by guitar, acoustic bass and bodhran. The music was accompanied by a combination of jigs, reels, mazurkas, polkas and songs.
