Gavin Williamson, MP for South Staffordshire, earlier this month joined the Natural Burial Company at Wrottesley Park to learn about their new partnership with the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.
The British Hedgehog Preservation Society and The Natural Burial Company have joined forces to raise awareness of the plight of the hedgehog.
It is believed that the hedgehog population has reduced by a third in urban areas since the millennium and by half in rural areas. It is important that action is taken to protect and support one of Britain's best loved animals.
The Natural Burial Company have added a hedgehog home into its range of environmentally friendly memorials and will make a donation to The British Hedgehog Preservation Society for every hedgehog home sold. Lord Clifton Wrottesley, Director of the Natural Burial Company, said "In line with our ethos of wanting to make a difference, to make the unconventional conventional and to bring nature into the mainstream, we are deeply proud to be associated with Britain's foremost charity for this species".
Commenting on the day, Gavin said: “It is absolutely wonderful that the Natural Burial Company are now offering hedgehog homes as a living tribute to commemorate a loved one. The British Hedgehog Preservation Society do fantastic work, and it was fascinating to learn more about these little creatures".
